Born into a musical household in Brooklyn where both parents were pianists, Tacuma started learning piano and trumpet, and moved on to formal violin training. Inspired by his lessons from Anthony Braxton, Tacuma switched to the saxophone while at Wesleyan University and graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts in Music under the tutelage of Vibraphonist Jay Hoggard. Tacuma moved back to NYC after graduating, and started performing and composing while studying under Barry Harris.

Alongside a developing career as a pediatric nurse, Tacuma’s love for music and creativity never wavered. He has performed as a bandleader and sideman at a multitude of clubs and venues in the US and internationally. Tacuma has released a number of albums, including a release with Ropeadope Records. His love for music and the creative mind has propelled him into teaching, where he has experienced some of the greatest joys in music. It is this joy that he hopes to impart on his students.
